Colleague of the Month
Matt’s passion for food, nutrition, customer service, and his work ethic were developed by watching his father and Chef who would often bring Matt into work with him, immersing him in the restaurant industry. At the age of 12, Matt had his first job at that restaurant, Doyle’s Café in Jamaica Plain, MA as the Sunday morning dish washer, his father’s way of teaching him that he did not want to be in the foodservice industry… But Matt loved the fast pace and excitement of it all!
Rather than pursue culinary, Matt studied food science and human nutrition at the University of Maine and then pursued clinical nutrition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s dietetic internship in Boston. After obtaining his Registered Dietitian credentials, Matt moved to Rochester, New York and started his career in senior living as a clinical dietitian, then transitioned to foodservice management. Matt found that as both a culinarian and dietitian, he could forge his own path and created a niche of expertise as an all-in-one manager, operating foodservice departments with a clinical mindset with recipes and processes. Matt joined the NEXDINE team in July 2022 and was thrilled by the opportunity to serve fresh and nutritious foods, not only acknowledging the food quality benefits, but also the clinical benefits we are able to provide.
Outside of work, Matt is making progress on his MBA in healthcare management and enjoys spending time with his wife Leah and 3 dogs. Many evenings are spent cooking and enjoying smores over a fire in the backyard.
